COUPLERS, THREADS, FITTINGS & ADAPTERS IDENTIFICATION GUIDE

COUPLERS, THREADS, FITTINGS & ADAPTERS IDENTIFICATION GUIDE

Procedure

Step 1- Identification

Check couplers, threads, fittings & adapters for marking which indicates a country of origin, stamped part number or size.

America: Check NPT, JIC, UNO, ORFS Japan: Check BSP  Europe: Check DIN, BSP UK/Australia: Check JIS

Summit Hydraulics Couplers Part Number: Check AGXXF-XXS, AGXXM-XXS, AGXXF-XXN, AGXXM-XXN, AGPXXF-XXS

Summit Hydraulics Fittings Part Number: Check XXXX-XX-XX-FG, ECXX-XXS, FSXXXX-XX-XX, NXXS-XXS, HXX-XXFJ

“All Summit Hydraulic parts have a stamped indicator to aid identification”  “N-NPT, S-SAE”

Step 2- Visual Identification
Check couplers and fittings for male and/or female thread. Different features also will help identification.

  • Is there an O-Ring? Washer seal?
  • Are there any cone seats? Concave or convex?
  • Are there any threads? Straight or tapered?
  • Is the thread male or female?
  • What is the style and angle of the fitting?

.

Step 3- Thread Measurement

Measure the thread diameter. We recommend a “digital caliper” tool

OD (outer diameter) – male threads

ID (inner diameter) – female threads

How to identify inside and outside diameter of threads

Step 4. Conclusion

Based on the collected measurements, match each measurements taken against the charts with similar properties to the couplers, threads, fittings & adapters. Reference step 2 to determine the properties of fittings/couplers and reference step 3 to measure fittings/couplers. Please reference next page for dimensional charts.
