A hydraulic diverter valve allows you to individually control two double or single acting cylinders from a single control valve by diverting fluid from one cylinder to another when activated, giving you a simple way to add auxiliary components to your system. As an example of the function of a diverter valve, our DV Kits are often used on compact tractors to add a grapple. Our kit is designed to be plumbed in line with your loaders tilt function, Fluid is allowed to pass through Ports P1/P2 to C/D, when the trigger is pulled on the included joystick handle, the flow of fluid will then switch from the tilt cylinder to the new auxiliary circuit (A/B). To open and close the auxiliary circuit, press and hold the trigger and move the joystick side to side to open and close the auxiliary cylinder. As soon as the trigger is released, flow will automatically switch back to allow use of the tilt function.

At Summit Hydraulics we have a range of options for diverter valves and what's included with them. First, you need to determine what flow rate is ideal for you. We currently have valves with max flow ratings of 13 GPM (DV50), 21 GPM (DV90-08), and 30 GPM (DV90-10). This flow-rate should be determined by the flow-rate of your auxiliary hydraulics, not your overall hydraulics system. Next, decide if quick disconnect couplers should be included, and if so what type of couplers (Flat face or Ag style). Finally, decide on the type of switch you'd like included with your kit. hydraulic multiplier is a hydraulic diverter selector valve that allows you to easily add additional rear remotes to your tractor. Keep in mind that this isn't a hydraulic control valve. This means the hydraulic multiplier does not control the fluid in and out of a cylinder (see our monoblocks), only what cylinders will receive the fluid from a control valve already installed. Our two circuit hydraulic multiplier valves at Summit Hydraulics are specifically designed to attach to the rear remotes of tractors. Our 3,4,and 6 circuit multipliers can mount to your machine with a bracket, then attach to your rear remotes with hydraulic hoses. With our switchbox control, you can select circuit 1, circuit 2, or both circuits, sending fluid to both attachments connect at the same time.
A true third function kit allows you to independently control the flow of hydraulic fluid in and out of a cylinder (or a number of cylinders), using a series of either separate switches or switches contained within a joystick. When the button is pressed, the solenoid opens the flow of fluid to the cylinder, either extending or retracting it. Our third function valve kit is powered by the power beyond port of your existing loader valve which will allow you to use multiple functions at the same time (i.e. curl bucket and close grapple). At Summit Hydraulics we have four types of switches, all of which are valuable given certain situations. We'll go through each of them, and describe their most common uses, benefits, and pitfalls.
Joystick Handle (Third Function Valves, J2): Joystick Handle Momentary switch controls is designed to work with Summit Z50 double acting control valves. This switch includes a joystick handle that replaces your existing handle and has 2 integrated momentary push button switches so you can open and close your cylinder with a push of a button. The handle will thread onto existing joystick shaft using an adapter bushing (thread options available: Tappable ¼” hole, 10mm x 1.5, 12mm x 1.25, 12mm x 1.75, 14mm x 2).
Joystick Handle (Diverter Valves, J1): Joystick Handle Momentary switch controls is designed to work with Summit DV50 double acting control valves. When the trigger is pulled on the included joystick handle, the flow of fluid will switch from the main cylinder to the new auxiliary circuit. To open and close the auxiliary circuit, press and hold the trigger and move the joystick side to side to open and close the auxiliary cylinder. As soon as the trigger is released, flow will automatically switch back to allow use of the main cylinder.
Momentary Switch: The momentary switch for diverter valves works in the same way as the trigger of the joystick handle. Once the button is pressed the flow of fluid will switch from the main cylinder to the new auxiliary circuit, and then will revert back to the main cylinder when released.
Maintained Switch (rocker switch): This is a two-position switch that can select either the first or second circuit. When a particular circuit is selected fluid constantly flow through that circuit until deselected, causing fluid to flow constantly through the other circuit.
